Prabowo Launches National Cheap PAN Market Initiative with PAN Party

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, alongside the National Mandate Party (PAN), has officially launched the "PANsar Murah Nasional" (National Cheap PAN Market) initiative. This program aims to provide essential goods such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, and sugar at prices 50-60% lower than market rates. The launch took place on the evening of September 18, 2026, during the celebration of PAN's 28th anniversary at the Jakarta International Convention Center. Putri Zulkifli Hasan, a member of the DPR RI and daughter of PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan, explained that the price difference subsidized by this initiative would allow families to allocate funds to other needs, including children's education, transportation, and healthcare. Putri emphasized the broad participation in the program, involving various community elements such as motorcycle taxi drivers, healthcare professionals, early childhood education teachers, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), fishermen, and farmers. While priority will be given to the country's "3T regions" (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped areas), the program is slated for nationwide implementation across all provinces on a regular basis. PANsar Murah has been operating since August through PAN's regional leadership bodies and is now officially established as a national movement. PAN covers the price difference, and a coupon and registration system ensures targeted distribution, reaching district and city levels, not just major urban centers. The initiative's launch coincides with a period of rising prices for several essential commodities, attributed to extreme drought and geopolitical instability, which has significantly impacted daily wage earners, small traders, and laborers. Putri stated that PAN's 28th anniversary is a moment for the party to work for the public, rather than just celebrate. In addition to PANsar Murah, PAN operates "Lapor PAN," a public complaint channel funded by salary deductions from PAN's DPR RI members, to address citizens' issues.
