Cambodia to Enhance Digital Education to Foster Talent for Industry 4.0

At the graduation ceremony for successful students and the inauguration of the academic building of the Royal University of Law and Economics on the morning of August 6, 2026, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet issued recommendations to further promote digital education. The Prime Minister recommended that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport continue to promote digital education in the context of Industry 4.0. This includes improving digital platforms, establishing digital education centers, producing video lessons for core subjects and exam preparation, integrating digital technology into learning and teaching, developing digital infrastructure in schools, and creating digital education programs to respond to the needs of the labor market, national economic and social development, technological revolution, and global paradigm shifts. Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to continue paying close attention to human capital development to better respond to the increasing competitiveness in the labor market and socio-economic development. This is especially important in the context of competition in all aspects, including geopolitics, economics, and trade, as well as the rapid growth of technology and socio-economic development that leans towards technology usage and global paradigm shifts, with the main objective of increasing resilience and building a strong digital socio-economy. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport must continue to promote digital education to contribute to building digital citizens and enhancing students' capabilities in the digital field, aiming to increase the efficiency of teaching and learning through digital systems and promote students' self-study. In collaboration with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, digital infrastructure will be developed in schools to boost online training, aiming for sustainable and inclusive education. Encouraging research and lifelong learning for all is also encouraged. Moreover, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport must continue to promote the quality of education, starting with improving the quality of teachers and school principals, focusing on teaching methods, curricula, and equipment appropriate to the vision of 21st-century education. Simultaneously, the Ministry must continue to strive to improve infrastructure and the environment, especially by organizing libraries that utilize modern technology systems and sufficient documents for study and research in educational institutions, both public and private. In parallel, university leaders, professors, and academic staff must continue to play a leading role as advisors, mentors, researchers, and innovators, continuously striving to develop their capacities in knowledge, skills, teaching methods, and the use of digital technology to enhance teaching effectiveness and bridge theory with practical application.
