Aung San Suu Kyi is in good health, will be allowed to meet ASEAN special envoy after serving sentence, says junta spokesperson

June 30 Mizzima. The junta spokesperson said that the detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi will only be allowed to meet the ASEAN special envoy after she has served her sentence. Dr. Khin Khin Soe, the 2026 Presidential Office spokesperson, said this at a junta press conference held in Naypyidaw today (June 30). When asked whether Aung San Suu Kyi could be allowed to meet the ASEAN special envoy, she said that since Aung San Suu Kyi is serving a sentence by court order, she will only be allowed to meet after serving her sentence in accordance with the law. Similarly, regarding Aung San Suu Kyi's current health condition, she added, "Aung San Suu Kyi's health condition is very good. There are no problems. She is completely well. Regular medical check-ups are also being conducted." However, Ko Thein Lin, Aung San Suu Kyi's son, recently told a Japanese news agency that he had received information that his mother's health was deteriorating. The State Counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi, 81, has been detained in Naypyidaw since the military coup, and the junta has imposed long prison sentences on her on various charges. While concerns are rising among family members and the public about her health condition, the military council responded by saying she is in good health, but she is still barred from meeting freely with outsiders.
