Cambodia Breaks Ground for New School Building to Improve Education Quality

Senior Advisor to the King, Samdech Kittisangharat Men Sam An, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for a new school building at Tanu Primary School in Chambok Commune, Svay Chrum District, Svay Rieng Province. She stated that improving the quality of education truly contributes to providing students and teachers with adequate space, facilitating teaching and learning more effectively. This, she emphasized, provides equal opportunities for children and youth in the community to receive education, laying a crucial foundation for future skill and knowledge development. The ceremony, held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, was attended by approximately 100 individuals, including members of the Senate and National Assembly, the Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Governor of Svay Rieng Province and his wife, representatives from the Gigaris Special Economic Zone, philanthropists from the Association of Cambodian Investors, teachers, local residents, and construction workers. The groundbreaking ceremony proceeded according to the planned program, involving the lighting of incense and prayers for well-being from the land's spirits, and offerings to ensure the construction proceeds smoothly, successfully, and safely. This new educational building will help students have sufficient classrooms, reduce the number of students per class, and create a better learning environment. Furthermore, it will help improve the quality of education by providing ample space for students and teachers, facilitating more effective teaching and learning, and offering opportunities for children and youth in the community to attend school, which is a vital foundation for developing skills and knowledge for the future. During the ceremony, Samdech Kittisangharat Men Sam An also provided donations: 50,000 Riel to each construction worker, 80,000 Riel to teachers, and 20,000 Riel to local residents.
