Cambodia Forecast: Increased Rainfall Due to Low Pressure, Caution Advised for Low Temperatures and Strong Winds
Cambodia is currently experiencing no typhoon-like conditions, but is forecast to see increased rainfall across many areas due to low pressure. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also anticipated in coastal and plateau regions, with temperatures expected to range between 24-36°C.
Although the Kingdom of Cambodia is currently not experiencing the severe storm conditions seen in recent days, it remains under the influence of low pressure, which is expected to cause increased rainfall in many regions. Some areas have a 50% to 70% chance of precipitation, with temperatures ranging between 24-36°C. This situation is attributed to low-pressure systems developing over the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the South China Sea, which are influencing the southwest monsoon pattern affecting the Mekong River basin, the Cambodian sea, and the entire Kingdom of Cambodia. This was announced by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology on the morning of September 10, 2026. According to the Ministry's announcement, the weather conditions from September 10 to September 12, 2026, are as follows: In the plain areas, the minimum temperature is expected to be 25°C and the maximum temperature 36°C. In the plateau areas, the minimum temperature is expected to be 24°C and the maximum temperature 35°C. Winds from the southwest and west will blow at an average speed of 5 meters per second. Provinces including Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratié, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, and mountainous regions such as the Dangrek Mountains and Cardamom Mountains, have a 70% chance of experiencing rain with thunderstorms and gusts. In the coastal areas, the minimum temperature is expected to be 25°C and the maximum temperature 34°C. Winds from the southwest and southeast will blow at an average speed of 3 meters per second.
