Vietnam and Myanmar Agree to Strengthen Business Connectivity, Boost Bilateral Trade

Vietnam and Myanmar have agreed to strengthen business connectivity and boost bilateral trade. This agreement was confirmed during the official visit of Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing to Vietnam from September 4 to 6. During the visit, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung held talks with President Min Aung Hlaing. The discussions emphasized the importance of promoting economic cooperation, particularly by enhancing ties between businesses. Both nations concurred on the objective of further increasing trade volume through improved investment environments and expanded market access. The visit also provided opportunities for high-level meetings between President Min Aung Hlaing and other key Vietnamese leaders, including General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam, and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man. These engagements are seen as part of Vietnam's consistent foreign policy aimed at strengthening multifaceted bilateral relations. Vietnam prioritizes stability and development within the ASEAN region and seeks to contribute to overall regional growth by deepening economic ties with neighboring countries. The political situation in Myanmar has remained unstable since the military coup in 2021, making this official visit by Vietnam a matter of international attention. Vietnam appears keen to support its own economic growth and maintain regional influence by sustaining and developing economic relations with Myanmar.
