Aung San Suu Kyi met with ICRC Country Representative, interim government announced

The interim government, which has transformed from a military junta, announced that State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who is being unjustly detained, met with Mr. Arnaud de Baecque, the Country Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Myanmar, on the morning of August 3rd. A spokesperson for the interim government also confirmed the meeting, according to Reuters. This meeting comes at a time when concerns are rising both internationally and domestically regarding the health of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the 81-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who has been held in isolation since the military coup in February 2021. While the interim government's information and public relations ministry announced that the ICRC country representative met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, details regarding the location of the meeting, the specifics of the discussions, and information about her health condition have not yet been released.
