Thai Nguyen University Sets Highest Cutoff at 27.13 for Math Pedagogy

Thai Nguyen University has set a high admission cutoff score of 27.13 out of 30 for its Mathematics Pedagogy program for the 2026 academic year, surpassing last year's top-scoring History and Literature Pedagogy programs. This indicates a growing academic competition within the university. Member universities of Thai Nguyen University began announcing their admission cutoff scores on the afternoon of August 9. The Mathematics Pedagogy program is currently the only one to exceed 27 points, highlighting the increasing popularity and difficulty of admission to education programs in regional universities. The lowest cutoff score was recorded for the English Language program (specializing in English for Science and Technology) at the University of Industry, with 16 points. Thai Nguyen University plans to admit approximately 24,900 students this year. Admission methods include direct admission, high school graduation exam results, academic transcripts, V-SAT exam results, aptitude and thinking assessment tests, a combination of high school graduation exam results with practical skills tests/international language certificates, and transfers from university preparatory programs. Some member universities have announced tuition fees for the 2026-2027 academic year ranging from 17.9 million VND to 28.9 million VND. Admitted students must confirm their enrollment online through the Ministry of Education and Training's system by 5 PM on August 21 and complete other admission procedures according to each university's schedule. Under Vietnam's one-party system, education is prioritized as a foundation for social stability and economic development, with the cultivation of high-quality human resources being a key national strategy. Even at regional universities, popular programs are increasingly facing competition comparable to those in urban areas, which suggests both an improvement in local education standards and a potential widening of educational disparities.
