Dyson Unveils AI-Powered Smart Electric Toothbrush 'CameraJet'

British tech giant Dyson has officially entered the oral care market with the unveiling of its first electric toothbrush, the Dyson CameraJet, at the IFA 2026 technology show. This innovative device aims to completely transform at-home dental routines by integrating standard brushing, targeted flossing, and mouth-washing into a single smart wand. The CameraJet features a tiny integrated camera that actively scans for gaps in a user's smile. Once a space is identified, it automatically dispenses a burst of fluid to clear away hidden plaque. This advanced functionality is powered by Dyson's proprietary AI system, 'Gap Optical Targeting,' developed by a dedicated team of 661 engineers over six years. The machine learning model was trained on over 470,000 different dental images, enabling the brush to understand the anatomy of a human mouth. Using a 100,000-pixel macro lens, the CameraJet scans teeth at 28 frames per second, predicting and tracking gap locations in under a second. Upon confirmation of a gap, a specialized conical jet fires a precise blast of mouthrinse, safely sweeping away food particles and plaque without damaging delicate gums. The engineering team also rethought liquid dynamics within a handheld device, designing a unique anti-gravity tank holding 12.5 milliliters of mouthwash. A diaphragm pump system prevents air bubbles from blocking fluid flow, ensuring a steady and powerful spray regardless of the brush's orientation. Beyond its cleaning hardware, the CameraJet emphasizes digital connectivity. It features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to sync with the MyDyson smartphone app, which provides brushing insights, personalized feedback, and detailed coverage maps. Users can also stream live video from the built-in camera to their phone for self-inspection. Dyson assures strong user privacy and data security, stating that no images are recorded, saved, or uploaded to the cloud. The standard brushing mechanics have also been enhanced with a variable sonic oscillation system, designed to keep bristles moving constantly even when pressed firmly against teeth, ensuring a thorough clean in hard-to-reach areas. To complement the hardware, Dyson is launching its own specially formulated toothpaste and mouthrinse, initially in Ginger Mint and Spearmint flavors, designed to work harmoniously for a balanced clean. This indicates Dyson's intent to control the entire oral care experience. The premium technology comes with a premium price tag. The Dyson CameraJet will retail for $500 and includes the smart brush, a charging dock, and a travel case. It is currently rolling out in select global markets, with a wider release expected soon.
