Suspect in robbery and assault of three women in South Okkalapa still at large

In Ward 13 of South Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region, a suspect who assaulted three women, including the homeowner, with a blunt object and fled with gold and phones worth over 5 million kyats has not yet been apprehended, according to police forces and administrative circles under the interim government. The incident occurred on the morning of July 31st on Anoma Street 1, Ward 13, South Okkalapa Township. The suspect, Min Khant Ko (alias Min Khant), 32, a resident of Taik Kyi Township, assaulted the homeowner, Daw Phyu Phyu Lin, 46, with whom he had an illicit relationship, along with her daughter and niece, using a steel hammer. He then fled with gold jewelry worth approximately 5.75 million kyats and three mobile phones. "The suspect has been on the run since the incident occurred. Currently, the relevant police station has filed a case, and search operations are being conducted by cordoning off areas where the suspect might be hiding," a police officer told the Ayeyarwaddy Times. Due to the assault with the blunt object, the homeowner, Daw Phyu Phyu Lin, sustained two blows to the back of her head, resulting in serious and concerning injuries. Her daughter and niece also suffered lacerations to their heads and are receiving medical treatment.
