Demokrat Party Chief Assures Prabowo of Reliability as Coalition Partner

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), chairman of Indonesia's Democrat Party, has affirmed that his party can be relied upon as a member of the government coalition. This statement was made during a political speech at the Democrat Party's 25th anniversary celebration, with President Prabowo Subianto in attendance. AHY acknowledged that he was particularly careful in delivering his speech, finding himself between two esteemed seniors in both politics and the military: President Prabowo and his father, former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). He stated that while he had to be cautious, his message came from personal conviction and did not require verbatim reading from a text. "Because if I make a slight mistake, the risk comes from two directions. From two seniors. However, there is one thing that I do not need to read verbatim from the text. Because it comes from my own conviction," AHY said. Drawing on military tradition, AHY explained the importance for soldiers to know who is loyal and always by their side during a mission. These are individuals who remain steadfast in all circumstances and can be counted on. Therefore, AHY sought to assure President Prabowo that the Democrat Party would consistently be a reliable partner. "Therefore, allow me, Mr. President, to sincerely state that you can rely on the Democrat Party. We will work with loyalty and carry out our mandates with full responsibility," AHY declared.
