Cambodia's Social Security Fund Approves Strategic Plan, Budget - Labor Minister Directs Efficiency
Cambodia's National Social Security Fund (NSSF) approved its 2027 budget proposal and medium-term strategic plan. Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, Heng Sour, directed efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in member services.
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) of Cambodia held its 5th meeting of the 2nd mandate Board of Directors on the afternoon of July 2, 2026, at the NSSF headquarters. Presided over by H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training and Chairman of the NSSF Board of Directors, the meeting reviewed and approved the 2027 budget proposal, the three-year rolling fiscal strategic plan for 2027-2029, the NSSF's first-quarter financial report, and the first-quarter performance report. These decisions aim to enhance operational efficiency through more transparent work processes for the benefit of NSSF members. H.E. Heng Sour highly commended the efforts of the NSSF's leadership, officials, and all staff for their solidarity and highly responsible work, which has robustly ensured the sustainability and quality of services provided to NSSF members. This allows members to receive effective and transparent benefits, particularly noting the growth in registered members. He emphasized that when citizens receive better services from the NSSF and enjoy good health, it signifies the success of the NSSF as well as the Royal Government in the social protection sector. The Minister highlighted the long-term vision of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, acting as the government's staff agency, to develop and expand the scope of social security schemes in line with evolving socio-economic conditions, based on the principles of equality and equity to ensure sustainability, consistent with global principles. He stated that NSSF's services in work-related risks, healthcare, and pensions are becoming increasingly attractive, making the public eager to obtain them. The meeting proceeded smoothly, with active discussions leading to the approval of the budget proposal, fiscal strategic plan, and financial reports. H.E. Heng Sour highly valued the NSSF's efforts in preparing these crucial documents, considering it a significant step in line with established procedures, and encouraged the attendees to continue their vital mission as board members to achieve the expected goals.
