Authorities in Mongol Borei District, Banteay Meanchey Province, have made a firm commitment to improving the quality of public services for residents, focusing on transparency and social accountability to effectively meet local needs. This was highlighted during a meeting to review the 2026 social accountability action plan and prepare the 2027 plan, chaired by Mr. Keo Tarasmy, Governor of Mongol Borei District, on July 29, 2026. During the meeting, Mr. Keo Tarasmy elaborated that social accountability serves as a strong bridge connecting authorities and citizens. He sternly urged all relevant officials, stating, "We must not perform this work merely to complete reports on paper! The most important thing is the tangible results that citizens receive. All challenges and requests from our local citizens must be addressed with the utmost transparency, sincerity, and accountability." The District Governor also emphasized the importance of evaluating and reviewing all activities implemented in 2026 to draw lessons learned, identify shortcomings, and use them as a solid foundation for developing the 2027 joint action plan with greater precision and effectiveness. The significant meeting was attended by many officials, including deputy district governors, heads and deputy heads of the district administration, representatives from World Vision, Community Accountability Facilitators (CAF), commune chiefs, deputy commune chiefs, and commune councilors from across the district. The presence of all stakeholders, from district leadership and technical officers to commune authorities, civil society representatives, and community facilitators, demonstrated a strong spirit of cooperation in building good governance at the local level. During the meeting, participants engaged in robust discussions on achievements, past challenges, and exchanged in-depth opinions to set future work directions, aiming to ensure that every citizen receives public services such as administration, health, and education equally, with quality, and without discrimination.
