Cambodia Sand Resource Management Committee Reviews Q3 Progress, Plans for Q4

The 7th meeting of the Sand Resource Management Committee was held on September 25, 2026, at the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology. The meeting was chaired by An Pheach Hathda, Secretary of State, representing the high-level presence of Tho Cheathda, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology and Chairman of the Sand Resource Management Committee. The primary objective was to review the progress of work for the third quarter and set the direction for continued implementation in the fourth quarter of 2026. The meeting was attended by 25 representatives from relevant ministries and institutions who are members of the Sand Resource Management Secretariat. The aim was to review Q3 work progress, define priority action plans for Q4, and prepare for the 2026 annual meeting of the Sand Resource Management Committee, ensuring the mission is carried out sustainably, efficiently, and effectively. Secretary of State An Pheach Hathda noted that the meeting involved robust discussions on experiences and lessons learned from past activities related to monitoring, disseminating information, and inspecting sand extraction businesses. These discussions aimed to strengthen and improve future work processes, making them clearer and more cohesive. The draft action plan for the secretariat for Q4 was also carefully examined. The meeting proceeded smoothly, yielding significant input from all relevant parties. A consensus was reached on several priority action plans that the secretariat must focus on implementing in a timely, highly responsible, accountable, and efficient manner. Source: AKP Khmer
