Cambodia Vows National Strengthening One Year After Thai Border Incursion

Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has urged the nation to transform the pain of a Thai military incursion that occurred on July 24, 2025, into strengthening all sectors, including the economy, national defense, and human resources, as the country marks the first anniversary of the event. This was stated in a press release regarding the results of a cabinet meeting. The Prime Minister also expressed his profound gratitude to the heroic soldiers, police, and armed forces who sacrificed their lives for the cause of defending the homeland. He also commended the valiant fighters currently stationed at the front lines for safeguarding the nation's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the peace of its people. It is noted that Prime Minister Hun Manet led the weekly cabinet meeting on the morning of July 24, 2026, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh to discuss and pass several agenda items. The agenda included: 1. A draft report on the annual monitoring and review of the implementation of the National Strategic Development Plan for 2025 by the government of the 7th mandate of the National Assembly. 2. A progress report on the water resources sector and measures to prepare for the El Niño phenomenon. 3. A progress report on the implementation of the campaign to eradicate online scams.
