Discussions for Stability and Development in EAO Regions

Discussions were held for stability and development in regions where Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) are based, according to the National Unity and Peacemaking Coordination Committee. The National Unity and Peacemaking Coordination Committee and the signatory Ethnic Armed Organizations of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA-S EAOs) continued to hold the second day of the review meeting on the peace process in Nay Pyi Taw on July 21. At the meeting, Lieutenant General Khin Zaw Oo (Retired), a member of the Coordination Committee, explained a framework for a more inclusive peace process based on the spirit and achievements of the NCA, and discussed the remaining matters from the first day of the meeting. Subsequently, in recording the two-day discussions and negotiations, matters such as promoting the NCA-based peace process, resolving political problems through political means, realizing political dialogues involving stakeholders, and implementing stability and development activities in the regions where EAOs are based were discussed, it was learned. In addition, discussions were held on providing humanitarian assistance and linking it with regional development and peace processes, cooperation from the respective NCA-S EAOs in holding public-based discussions and forums in regions or states, obtaining domestic and international technical assistance, and continuing informal and bilateral meetings. Following this, Lieutenant General Min Naing, Secretary of the Coordination Committee, explained the continuation of the NCA-based peace process, the inclusion of ethnic armed organizations that have not yet signed the NCA, and ethnic armed organizations that have signed the NCA but have deviated from the NCA path for various reasons, as well as continuous meetings and future peace process activities based on the two-day discussions. Subsequently, based on the two-day discussions and negotiations, a record of the consolidated opinions was signed. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Yar Pyae, Chairman of the National Unity and Peacemaking Coordination Committee, members of the Coordination Committee, leaders and members of the negotiation teams of the signatory ethnic armed organizations of the NCA, coordinators, and responsible officials.
