Man Prosecuted for Murdering Ex-Girlfriend's Mother and Siblings in Vietnam

In a deeply disturbing case in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, a 21-year-old man, Nguyễn Đức Anh, has been prosecuted for murder and illegal use of military weapons following the brutal killing of his ex-girlfriend's mother and two young siblings. The charges include four aggravating factors for murder, indicating the extreme severity of the crime. Judicial authorities completed the investigation and prosecution process in a remarkably short period, just over half a month after the attack on the victims' home. Đức Anh is alleged to have acted out of revenge against his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend, who had ended their relationship, on the early morning of September 3, 2023. He had been drinking with friends earlier and, despite their attempts to dissuade him, proceeded with his plan alone. Prior to the incident, Đức Anh had also threatened his ex-girlfriend with a knife, forcing her into his vehicle and taking her to a forest area to talk. He had initially intended to kill her then, but he paused his plan at her plea. Still harboring murderous intent, on the night of the attack, he attempted to break into his ex-girlfriend's house but was discovered by her father and failed. He then infiltrated the adjacent house, killing the wife and their two young children, and severely injuring the husband. He was apprehended by police as he attempted to flee the scene.
