The Cambodian Senate distributed essential supplies and cash to 375 families displaced near the Thai border. On the afternoon of Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Wat Kiry Toulo Anndet Pagoda in Preah Vihear Province, His Excellency Lay Samkol, Secretary-General of the Senate, His Excellency Neang Phat, Chairman of the 4th Commission of the Senate, His Excellency Dr. Chiw Yi Sang, Chairman of the 5th Commission of the Senate and Director of the Cabinet of the Senate President, His Excellency Sr Thammrong, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister for Special Missions, His Excellency Yos Sokhemarak, Chief of Protocol for the Senate President, and leaders of the Senate Secretariat met with and extended greetings to 375 families of displaced persons. On this occasion, His Excellency the Secretary-General conveyed the profound concern and high attention of Samdech Techo, President of the Senate, and Samdech Kittipol, the President of the Senate, as well as the Prime Minister and Senate leadership, to the living conditions of the displaced citizens who have been affected by the recent invasion war along the border. His Excellency recalled the public declaration made by Samdech Techo, Acting Head of State, in Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, stating that Cambodia adheres to a firm stance in defending its territorial integrity and resolving the Cambodia-Thailand border issues peacefully, in accordance with international law and diplomatic mechanisms. He emphasized that alongside the efforts to find a peaceful solution, the protection of the lives, safety, and well-being of the soldiers and displaced persons is considered the highest priority. In this regard, His Excellency the Secretary-General appealed to the displaced citizens to continue to maintain patience and solidarity. He pointed out that safeguarding their lives and safety is the utmost priority, concurrent with efforts to resolve the border issues between Cambodia and Thailand during this difficult time. His Excellency the Secretary-General commended and thanked the provincial authorities at all levels for overcoming all difficulties to resolve issues for the displaced citizens. His Excellency the Secretary-General also conveyed essential supplies, food, and some cash from Samdech Techo, President of the Senate, and Samdech Kittipol, through His Excellency Ouch Borith, First Vice-President of the Senate, to pregnant women, the elderly, and the 375 displaced families.
