Cambodian PM Meets Lao & Vietnamese Security Ministers, Reinforces Foreign Ties

Phnom Penh Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held separate meetings with the Minister of Public Security of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Vilayphone Thongsoupha, and the Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, in Phnom Penh. During the meeting with Laos' Minister Vilayphone Thongsoupha, discussions focused on further deepening the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries, particularly strengthening cooperation in areas of common interest such as public security, drug trafficking prevention, human trafficking prevention, and combating cybercrime. Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the "historically strong" relationship between Cambodia and Laos and expressed his intention to continue close collaboration. Subsequently, in a meeting with Vietnam's Minister To Lam, the importance of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations was reaffirmed. The discussions resulted in an agreement to further enhance cooperation in a wide range of fields, including public security, counter-terrorism, border management, drug smuggling prevention, and cybersecurity. Prime Minister Hun Manet stressed that Cambodia and Vietnam are in a relationship that "as neighboring countries, contributes to each other's peace, stability, and prosperity," and stated that strengthening cooperation between the two countries would contribute to regional stability. These meetings underscore Cambodia's emphasis on strengthening ties with regional countries, particularly in security cooperation with its neighbors, Laos and Vietnam. Under Prime Minister Hun Manet's administration, Cambodia is clearly demonstrating a commitment to enhancing its foreign relations, especially within ASEAN.
