ASEAN Observer Team Affirms High Commitment to Mission of Observing, Verifying, and Reporting on Cambodia-Thailand Border Situation

According to a statement from the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, on the morning of July 27, 2026, at 09:00, Lt. Gen. Pou Heng, Deputy Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army and Commander of Military Region 4, met with the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT-KH) in Siem Reap province. The team was led by Rear Admiral GLENN Z DIZON, Head of Mission (HOM AOT) and Philippine Military Attaché to Cambodia, with coordination from the Cambodian Coordination Liaison Group (CLG). Lt. Gen. Pou Heng welcomed the ASEAN Observer Team to the Military Region 4 Headquarters under the leadership of the Philippines. He expressed his profound gratitude for the team's unwavering commitment and significant efforts thus far in supporting the promotion of peace, stability, and confidence in the region under the ASEAN mechanism. He also briefed the delegation on the recent developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border. In response, Rear Admiral GLENN Z DIZON conveyed his thanks to Military Region 4 for consistently facilitating and providing convenience for all missions to observe, verify, and report along the Cambodia-Thailand border since the ceasefire came into effect. He reaffirmed the team's high commitment to fulfilling this crucial mission of observing, verifying, and reporting on the actual situation along the border. Cambodia consistently provides full support and strengthens the role of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) in ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, thereby promoting transparency, mutual trust, and the protection of citizens' lives. Concurrently, Cambodia always welcomes friendly countries to send observers or participate in peace-building efforts. The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia remain steadfastly committed, with utmost sincerity and responsibility, to fully and strictly adhering to and implementing the Joint Declaration of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements.
