Cambodia and South Korea Strengthen Cultural Cooperation Through Arts and Creative Industries

Cambodia and South Korea are strengthening cooperation in arts and creative industries, promoting cultural exchange and human resource development. The performance of 'The Film Delivery Man' is particularly seen as a key part of fostering mutual understanding and deepening ties between the peoples of both nations. Speaking at the opening of the event at the Chaktomuk Conference Hall on the evening of September 18th, Her Excellency Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, expressed her pleasure and appreciation to the Korean Embassy, artists, and related partners for their contributions to organizing this performance. She emphasized that cultural exchange through music, dance, film, theatre, and various arts is a crucial means to bring the peoples of both countries closer and enhance mutual understanding. 'The Film Delivery Man' showcased the potential of the cultural and creative industries by integrating street dance, circus, and songs from famous films, creating a vibrant visual spectacle. For Cambodia, the development of the cultural and creative industries is considered important for preserving heritage while simultaneously creating opportunities for youth, artists, and professionals to produce new works and promote Khmer culture globally. Past cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea in the cultural sector has also focused on the conservation and documentation of cultural heritage, digitalization, capacity building, and training of specialists through Korean institutions and organizations. The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts has affirmed its continued support for talented artists and youth, as well as promoting the exchange of experiences to enhance capabilities and creativity in the cultural sector. Looking ahead to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Cambodia-Korea diplomatic relations in 2027, Cambodia anticipates further expansion of cooperation in areas such as film, performing arts, museums, cultural and creative industries, cultural education, technology, and exchanges among young artists. Through joint efforts, this cooperation is expected to contribute to both the preservation of cultural values and the creation of new opportunities for future generations.
