Plans are still being drawn up for urban development projects within Yangon Region, and land plots will be allocated to civil servants and retired civil servants if guidance is received from the Union level, said Yangon Region government's Minister for Municipal Affairs, U Myo Myint Aung. This was stated by Minister for Municipal Affairs U Myo Myint Aung in response to a question raised by U Thaw Tar, the representative of Constituency (2) for Dagon New Town (East) Township, during the ninth day of the second regular session of the third Yangon Region Hluttaw, held on June 29, regarding whether there are plans to allocate land plots to civil servants, those with over 30 years of service, and those who retired after 2021 within Yangon Region. Currently, there are no plans to allocate land plots to civil servants and retired civil servants within Yangon Region, Minister for Municipal Affairs U Myo Myint Aung also stated. "We are in the initial period of the new government. We are in the planning phase to start these projects for the implementation of urban development projects. Therefore, even after the plans are drawn up, according to our constitution, urban land management requires guidance from the Union, and it is only after guidance is given from the Union level that the Region level can implement it. We are currently in the process of planning to draw up this project. Therefore, after these stages are completed, we will be able to plan and implement the allocation for the civil servants and retired civil servants that the honorable Hluttaw representative asked about. This is the current situation. Therefore, in the current situation, I have responded that there are no plans to allocate land to the civil servants and retired civil servants that the honorable Hluttaw representative asked about at this time. If the plans I mentioned earlier can be drawn up, submitted to the Union, and guidance is received, then we will plan and implement it at that time," said Minister for Municipal Affairs U Myo Myint Aung. U Thaw Tar, the representative of Constituency (2) for Dagon New Town (East) Township, stated in his question that civil servants who did not participate in the CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) during the 2021 situation faced social punishment and pressure, but they persevered and fulfilled their duties with the available manpower without any shortcomings. Furthermore, he added in his question that some civil servants, despite serving diligently for over 30 years, have never received a plot of land from the state for housing or the opportunity to purchase low-cost housing.
