Hun Many has urged Cambodian authorities and party working groups to prepare for the impacts of rising temperatures and drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon. He also emphasized closer engagement with the public and preparations for upcoming elections.
Hun Many, a member of the Permanent Committee of the Central Committee and head of the party working group for Kampong Speu province, has called on working groups, local authorities, and all relevant parties to prepare to prevent and mitigate the impacts of rising temperatures and drought caused by the natural phenomenon El Niño. He also urged for more active and in-depth engagement with the people at the grassroots level. The appeal was made on the morning of July 25, 2026, during a meeting to summarize the party's July work results and outline tasks for the following month. The meeting was co-chaired and attended by approximately 450 members of the party working groups for provinces, cities, districts, communes, and sub-districts, as well as party leaders at all levels. Hun Many highly commended and praised the provincial governorates, cities, districts, departments, and party working groups at all levels for their active and responsible efforts in carrying out their duties, including regularly engaging with citizens and promoting the issuance of party membership cards at the local level. Concurrently, he reminded attendees of the painful historical lessons and experiences the nation has endured, urging them to serve as a reminder and to inspire collective spirit. Regarding the upcoming elections, Hun Many instructed to continue preparing and disseminating clear action plans and work calendars to align with the voter registration process. It should be noted that during this meeting, Cham Chansophoan, Chairman of the Kampong Speu Provincial Party Committee, presented a summary report on the July work results, outlined tasks for August, and provided an overview of the province's general situation. Progress on the implementation of political programs, normative documents, and directives from the central level was also reviewed and assessed. Source: Kampuchea Thmey Local
