Cambodia and Georgia Encouraged to Explore Deeper Cooperation

Cambodian Acting Head of State Hun Sen encouraged both governments to explore untapped areas of cooperation and deepen their relationship during a meeting with new Georgian Ambassador Irakli Asashvili on September 17. Hun Sen welcomed Asashvili and, in the name of the King, congratulated him on his appointment as the new Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Cambodia. He expressed hope that the presence of the new ambassador would further enhance the relations between Cambodia and Georgia. Ambassador Asashvili expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet and present his credentials to Hun Sen. He stated that it was a great honor to meet Hun Sen in person, having known of his reputation and historical achievements as a leader through historical documents and media. As the new Georgian Ambassador to Cambodia, he pledged to work diligently to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. The ambassador noted that relations between the two nations are currently progressing remarkably. In response, Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with the ambassador's remarks, agreeing that despite the geographical distance, both countries have the potential to build strong ties. He encouraged both governments to engage in further discussions to identify key areas of cooperation and deepen their collaboration. Hun Sen also recalled his past visit to Georgia and expressed his hope for an even stronger friendship between the two nations.
