Cambodian Dance Sports Delegation Departs for Asian, ASEAN Championships, Confident of Medals

A Cambodian dance sports delegation of 22 members departed on July 22, 2026, to participate in the Asian and ASEAN Dance Sports Championships, scheduled to take place in Malaysia from July 23 to 26, 2026. Madam Ny Sam Kol, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Women's Affairs and President of the Cambodian Dance Sports Federation, expressed strong confidence that the athletes will return with medals. Madam Ny Sam Kol made these remarks on July 22, 2026, while bidding farewell to the delegation at Techo International Airport in Kandal Province, accompanied by federation leaders, including Madam Hang Simun, Secretary General of the Federation, and other officials. She highlighted that this Asian and Southeast Asian championship event is a significant one, providing Cambodian athletes with opportunities to gain international experience and enhance the capabilities of the national team, aiming to win medals for the nation. At a similar event in 2025, hosted by Vietnam, Cambodian dance sports athletes secured a total of 17 medals, including an impressive four gold medals. Among the participating athletes are members of the youth development program (Talent), who are being given the chance to compete and gain international experience, with the aim of contributing medals to the country. Madam Ny Sam Kol expressed optimism, stating that whenever there is an invitation to participate in international competitions, the federation will make every effort to send Cambodian dance sports athletes, even in difficult circumstances. The federation will strive to mobilize support from philanthropists and seek assistance from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia. Madam Ny Sam Kol emphasized, "As leaders of the Cambodian Dance Sports Federation, myself, the vice presidents, the secretary general, the coaches, and all members of the executive committee have firm confidence that the Cambodian dance sports athletes will achieve excellent results. They will not return empty-handed. I believe that on July 27, 2026, when they return to our motherland, our Cambodian dance sports athletes will undoubtedly bring medals back for our nation." Meanwhile, Madam Hang Simun, Secretary General of the Cambodian Dance Sports Federation, reported that the delegation comprises a total of 22 individuals, including Mr. Ban Soucheath as the head of the delegation, Ms. You Shu Jie as the judge, Mr. Sov Tong as the head coach, Mr. Suon Kosal as the assistant coach, and 18 athletes (8 male and 10 female).
