Karaoke Staff Fined for Lewd Dancing

In Hung Yen province, northern Vietnam, employees of a karaoke establishment were apprehended for engaging in lewd dancing. Consequently, four female employees were each fined VND 400,000 (approximately USD 16). The incident occurred on September 8 at a karaoke establishment in Son Nam ward. During a police inspection, it was discovered that in a VIP room, several men and women were performing lewd dances with minimal clothing. In connection with this, the 31-year-old male manager of the establishment was fined VND 45 million (approximately USD 1,800) for organizing lewd dances among employees. The owner of the establishment was also fined VND 29 million (approximately USD 1,160) for failing to create a business activity management log and for negligence in preventing lewd activities within the premises. Additionally, the owner faces a supplementary penalty of a 4-month and 15-day suspension of their business license. Police have reiterated their call for businesses operating in sensitive sectors such as karaoke, massage, and lodging to enhance their management responsibilities for both staff and customers, and to strictly adhere to legal regulations. They emphasized the need to prevent these establishments from being exploited for illegal and inappropriate activities. In Vietnam, under its single-party system, the maintenance of social order is a priority, and crackdowns on acts that violate public morality tend to be stringent. Inappropriate behavior in entertainment venues, particularly those frequented by younger demographics, is often perceived as a societal concern.
