Cambodian National Assembly Reviews Draft Law on Commune Administration

The Cambodian National Assembly has commenced deliberations on amendments to the "Law on the Administration of Communes and Sangkats," which forms the foundation of local administration. On August 5, 2026, a meeting of the Standing Committee, led by Speaker Khuon Sodary, was held to review the draft law submitted by the government. As a result of the meeting, the draft law has been assigned to the Standing Committee on Interior, National Defense, Public Functions, and Border Affairs. This committee will collaborate with the Standing Committee on Legislation and Justice to conduct a detailed examination and study of the draft, with the findings to be reported to the plenary session of the National Assembly.
