This move is set to advance Cambodia's engagement with international frameworks and the refinement of its domestic legal system. The four draft laws to be deliberated are: 1. A draft law approving the Protocol to Amend the Charter of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This protocol aims to reform ASEAN's structure and enhance cooperation among member states, marking a significant step for Cambodia in maintaining and expanding its regional role and influence. 2. A draft law approving the Convention on the Interaction of Actions and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) on the Rights and Privileges of the Secretariat, Personnel, and Representatives of Members. CICA serves as a framework for security and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, and Cambodia's ratification of this convention signifies its commitment to regional security. 3. A draft law approving the Agreement between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Russian Federation on Mutual Assistance in International Criminal Justice Matters. This agreement is designed to bolster cooperation between the two countries in criminal investigations and judicial proceedings, particularly contributing to enhanced capabilities in addressing international crimes. In recent years, Cambodia-Russia relations have shown a deepening trend not only in economic but also in security sectors. 4. A draft law amending the Law on the Status of Lawyers. This amendment is presumed to aim at reviewing the system and ethical codes of the legal profession within Cambodia, seeking to improve professionalism and access to justice. These draft laws are expected to be reviewed and adopted during the plenary session of the National Assembly's 6th mandate, 7th session, scheduled for September 21, 2026.
