Rebel government military convoy sailing up the Ayeyarwaddy River, warning residents along the riverbanks to evacuate to safety

Ayeyarwaddy Times, July 2. The People's Administrative Committee (PAO) of Kantbalu Township has issued an urgent special appeal for residents living along the riverbanks to temporarily relocate to safe areas due to a rebel government military convoy sailing up the Ayeyarwaddy River to reinforce military strength and supplies in Bhamo city, Kachin State. Currently, the rebel government military is sailing up the river with approximately 20 vessels in total, including two attack warships, and is conducting aerial bombing attacks along the river route, as well as indiscriminate firing from the warships towards riverside villages, according to the statement from the Kantbalu Township PAO. It is known that the rebel government military had transported weapons, ammunition, supplies, and reinforcements to be loaded onto the said military convoy by military vehicles from the Central Military Command (LPC) in Mandalay Palace on June 23, and pre-transported them to Gawin Port. Subsequently, two lead warships arrived in Mattaw Township on June 27, received aerial attack support, cleared the route, and sailed up the river. According to local sources, one landing craft and one attack warship that sailed up are anchored in the river route northeast of Shinnmaka village, east of Wetlet Township. It is understood from local residents that these vessels are anchored together in Shinnmaka to await the arrival of further military convoys. The Kantbalu Township People's Administrative Committee has urged the public residing within 5 miles of the Ayeyarwaddy Riverbanks to quickly relocate to safe areas for their safety due to the rebel government military's riverine operations and indiscriminate firing.
