Sara Duterte: I will never resign, calls it 'betrayal' to voters

Vice President Sara Duterte has stated that she will never resign from her post, asserting that doing so would be a betrayal of the 32.2 million Filipinos who voted for her. "Oh, never gonna happen. I won't resign because it would be like betraying the 32.2 million people who voted for me," Duterte said in an interview posted on the Facebook page of Padayon & Updates. She further indicated that if President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. wished to remove her, he could do so. "If BBM wants, he could remove me. He could try everything to remove me," Duterte added. Duterte is currently facing an impeachment trial over allegations of misuse of confidential and intelligence funds, unexplained wealth, and betrayal of public trust. She has denied any wrongdoing and has described the impeachment case as politically motivated. Meanwhile, in a speech before the Filipino community in London on Saturday, Duterte criticized the Philippine government for alleged corruption. "Since there are many 'crocodiles' in the Philippines," Duterte said, "What happened to us Filipinos is that we went our separate ways. Those who gained positions, wealth, and power became selfish." This statement comes amidst political tensions within the Philippines and the impeachment proceedings against the Vice President. Her refusal to resign underscores her strong political stance, drawing legitimacy from her electoral mandate.
