Cambodian Minister of Social Affairs Distributes Aid to Disabled Family

A team from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, led by Minister Chea Somethy, along with the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Fund for Disabled Persons Branch and the provincial Department of Social Affairs, Youth and Veterans, distributed essential aid to a poor family with disabilities on September 15, 2026. The family resides in A Lych village, Chhnoak commune, Kampong Leng district, Kampong Chhnang province and includes two individuals with disabilities. The aid package, generously provided by Minister Chea Somethy and his wife, included 25 kilograms of rice, one carton of instant noodles, two cans of mackerel, one bottle of fish sauce, one bottle of soy sauce, two packets of salt, and a cash donation of 200,000 Riel. Additionally, the head of the provincial Department of Social Affairs, Youth and Veterans contributed an extra 100,000 Riel, a blanket, and a mat. During the handover, the ministerial team conveyed the warm regards and well-wishes of Minister Chea Somethy and his wife, emphasizing their continuous concern for citizens facing hardship. The Minister also extended an appeal to all individuals with disabilities, encouraging them to avail themselves of the free physical rehabilitation services offered. This initiative highlights the government's ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, particularly those with disabilities, aiming to foster their social integration and improve their quality of life. The Minister's call to action underscores the government's intent to boost the utilization of disability rehabilitation services.
