Cambodian Red Cross Distributes Aid to Tornado Victims

The Cambodian Red Cross has distributed humanitarian aid to residents in Ponhear Loeuk district, Kampot province, whose homes were damaged by a tornado. The aid distribution took place on July 13, 2026, with a delegation led by Ms. Srun Sreynang, a representative of the Kandal Provincial Red Cross Branch, visiting the affected areas. The humanitarian assistance, from the Cambodian Red Cross headed by Madam Bun Rany Hun Sen, was provided to families affected by the tornado in Ta Pou village, Koh Chin commune, and to those whose homes were destroyed by fire in Prek Ta Prom village, Kompong Os commune. During the visit, Ms. Srun Sreynang conveyed the warm regards and well wishes of Madam Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross. She stated that while the aid provided might seem modest compared to the extent of the damage, it signifies the branch leadership's commitment to helping alleviate the immediate challenges faced by the affected individuals. She emphasized that the assistance is provided in accordance with the seven fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, without regard to race, religion, color, or political affiliation. Each affected family received a package containing 50 kilograms of rice, one case of instant noodles, one tarpaulin sheet, one bottle of fish sauce, one bottle of soy sauce, one case of bottled water, one bottle of canned fish, one hygiene kit, and one set of kitchen utensils.
