TNLA delegation confirmed to be holding talks in Naypyidaw

Mizzima The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), a member of the Three Brotherhood Alliance, confirmed to Mizzima that its senior leadership met with the military junta’s peace negotiation body, the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), in Naypyidaw on 19 July. The talks were attended by a TNLA delegation led by Vice Chairman (1) Lt. Gen. Tar Jote Jar, while the junta’s team was led by Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae. TNLA spokesperson Lway Yay Oo confirmed the ongoing discussions with the junta in Naypyidaw but said specific details of the agenda are currently unavailable. She said details of the discussions and any resulting agreements would only be confirmed once the delegation returns. Despite capturing numerous towns during the “Operation 1027” offensive, TNLA lost control of six towns — including Naungcho, Kyaukme, Hsipaw, Momeik, and Mogok [VERIFY — only five towns named for a stated total of six; sixth town name missing] — back to junta forces in 2025. It currently retains control over six towns: Namtu, Namhkam, Namsan, Mantong, Mongngaw, and Monglong.
