Vietnamese Coast Guard Rescues Stranded Thai Vessel

Vietnam's Coast Guard Region 4 has rescued a Thai cargo ship that was adrift due to engine failure in the southwestern waters of Vietnam. The vessel was discovered during the implementation of duties to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The ship, identified as number 3177, was detected on July 14 emitting distress signals approximately 4 nautical miles from the Vietnam-Thailand maritime border. Upon inspection, authorities determined that the ship's main engine had suffered a severe breakdown, rendering it unable to navigate independently. Coast Guard Region 4 permitted the distressed vessel to anchor in a safe location and provided the crew with essential supplies such as water, food, and medical care. This rescue operation underscores Vietnam's commitment to fulfilling its international maritime rescue obligations and maintaining friendly relations with neighboring countries.
