Vietnam Boosts Tourism Through Heritage and Digitalization

In its new development phase, local authorities are identifying tourism as a crucial economic sector to drive economic restructuring, generate jobs, improve local living standards, and preserve the unique cultural, historical, and natural heritage values of Vietnam’s premier tea-growing land. Thai Nguyen targets at least 12 million visitors by 2030, including 11 million domestic and 1 million international arrivals, with tourism revenue exceeding 25 trillion VND (494 million USD) annually and around 10,000 jobs created. With the largest tea-growing area and the highest product value per hectare nationwide, the northern province of Thai Nguyen is accelerating digital transformation and VietGAP practices to strengthen its tea brand. By linking production with deep processing and experiential tourism, the province aims to bring its tea products further into international markets.
