Korean Association Pledges Support to Attract Tourists and Investors to Cambodia

Phnom Penh, September 9, 2026 — The International Interchange Development Association (IIDA) of South Korea has pledged to promote Cambodia's political and security situation to Korean citizens and to implement various activities to boost people-to-people exchanges, travel, and tourism between the two countries. This commitment was made by Mr. Mun Yong-Jo, President of the International Interchange Development Association (IIDA) of the Republic of Korea, during a meeting with H.E. Thong Hak, Minister of Tourism, on September 8, 2026. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the meeting was held to discuss strengthening and expanding cooperation in the tourism sector and promoting Cambodia's tourism potential to Korean citizens and investors. Mr. Mun Yong-Jo stated his commitment to publicizing the political situation, economic and social development, and excellent security and safety conditions he has personally witnessed in Cambodia. He specifically highlighted the effective and efficient results of the campaign to crack down on online crimes, under the firm orders of the Prime Minister. Furthermore, the President pledged to prepare and implement various activities to promote people-to-people exchanges and increase travel and tourism between Cambodia and Korea. H.E. Thong Hak expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mun Yong-Jo and his colleagues for their initiative to strengthen and expand cooperation in tourism between the Ministry of Tourism and the Korean association. He emphasized the goal of increasing Korean tourists visiting Cambodia and, in particular, encouraging investment from Korean investors. Concurrently, H.E. Thong Hak highlighted Cambodia's political, economic, and social situation, as well as the development of its tourism sector, affirming that Cambodia remains a safe tourist destination with warm hospitality. He noted that Cambodia has launched the "Visit Cambodia Green Season" campaign in collaboration with airlines, tourism companies, content creators, and international media to promote its tourism potential, diversify markets, and develop more diverse, green, and intelligent tourism products. The Minister stressed that the tourism sector is a priority for the Cambodian government and a pillar of the economy, aimed at driving economic growth and improving citizens' livelihoods under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.
