Hanoi Police Launch Smart App for Traffic Monitoring

Hanoi, Vietnam – The Hanoi Police Department has launched a new smartphone application, "Hanoi Smart Police," designed to provide citizens with real-time access to traffic camera feeds, congestion, and flooding information. This initiative aims to enhance digital two-way communication between the public and the police, thereby improving public safety and order. Unveiled on September 2nd as part of the city's digital transformation efforts, the app is currently being piloted on the iHanoi platform. Users can report on-site security and order situations, send information, activate SOS emergency signals, schedule appointments with police departments, and rate their satisfaction. The app also allows users to look up police station locations and contact details for their local officers. A key feature is the enhanced access to traffic information. Citizens can monitor traffic conditions, congestion, flooding, accident hotspots, and road closure alerts. They can also view live traffic camera footage and access public awareness information on security and order. The application incorporates AI-powered virtual assistants and chatbots to aid in information retrieval. The introduction of Hanoi Smart Police is expected to reduce the time citizens spend searching for information and contacting the police. It will also enable more proactive engagement by providing early warnings on traffic, security, and public order matters. In addition to the app, the department also introduced a drone (UAV) surveillance system for wide-area monitoring and a production line for wireless fire alarm devices. The drone system utilizes AI to detect violations and anomalies, supporting urban order and traffic safety. The wireless fire alarms aim to bolster fire prevention in homes and businesses, mitigating damage through early warnings. Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the Hanoi Police Department, has instructed relevant units to support citizens in installing and utilizing the app, and to promote the wireless fire alarm system.
