Vietnam's Cyber Warfare Command Unit Awarded First-Class Fatherland Defense Order
Vietnam's 186th Center of the Cyber Space Warfare Command received the First-Class Fatherland Defense Order during its 20th anniversary. The award underscores the critical role of cyber defense in national security.
On September 4, the 186th Center, under the Cyber Space Warfare Command (Command 86) of the Vietnam People's Army, celebrated its 20th anniversary (September 5, 2006 - September 5, 2026) and was awarded the First-Class Fatherland Defense Order. This honor recognizes the center's contributions to national security and information protection in cyberspace. During the ceremony, its role as a "core force" in defending the nation in the cyber domain was emphasized. Vietnam has been rapidly strengthening its cybersecurity posture in response to the growing threats in cyberspace. The country faces urgent challenges such as detecting and processing malicious software (malware) and ensuring information security through enhanced awareness among social media users. The development of specialized personnel to maintain and strengthen national security in cyberspace is also positioned as a key policy objective. The award to the 186th Center clearly indicates Vietnam's focus on enhancing its defense capabilities, viewing cyberspace as a new frontier for national sovereignty and security. Source: Nhan Dan
