Cambodia's CMAC Trains US Military on EOD Techniques

The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) has collaborated with the US-based Golden West Philanthropic Foundation to provide specialized training to the United States military and the armed forces of Cabo Verde on Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) clearance techniques and the use of detection equipment. The training took place from late August to early September 2024. This initiative specifically targeted the US Air Force's ERW specialization unit and the technical explosive ordnance disposal team of Cabo Verde. The training is part of the US humanitarian mine action support program for African nations. CMAC Director-General Heng Ratana highlighted that this cooperation is supported by the United States. The Golden West Philanthropic Foundation has been a significant partner of CMAC in mine action activities in Cambodia for over 25 years, dating back to the early 2000s. This training demonstrates the long-standing partnership between the two organizations and how Cambodia's expertise in mine clearance contributes to international humanitarian efforts.
