Vietnam Eyes AI for Enhanced Governance and Economic Efficiency

By 2030, Vietnam aims for 60% of businesses using AI to improve efficiency, all civil servants using AI in their work weekly, and 60% of administrative decisions supported by data and AI. The satisfaction rate for AI-supported public services is expected to rise by at least 30%. Vietnamese businesses have established leading positions in some supply chains, including seafood, wood processing, cashew and coffee processing. However, in manufacturing and electronics, many firms remain concentrated in assembly and the supply of simple components. Data transparency, traceability and effective supply-chain management are key to helping leading businesses maintain their positions. Vietnam is shifting from a “governance-oriented” approach to lawmaking toward an “adaptive” and development-enabling approach, ensuring sufficient flexibility to harness new technologies while upholding core principles and values as well as system security and safety. On September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming to the Vietnamese people and the world the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Amid the bustle of Hanoi’s old quarter, the house at 48 Hang Ngang street stands as a historic landmark where President Ho Chi Minh drafted the Declaration of Independence 81 years ago. Joining the nationwide celebrations of the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, representatives of Working Groups No. 5, 8 and 9 of the Ministry of Public Security, currently serving on United Nations peacekeeping missions at the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), solemnly held a national flag-raising ceremony. State President Ton Duc Thang, a steadfast communist, exemplary leader and symbol of national unity, was born on August 20, 1888, in Long Xuyen, now part of My Hoa Hung commune, An Giang province. A prominent son of southern Vietnam, he devoted his life to the national struggle and the cause of national unity.
