Indonesian Arts and Politics Mourn Passing of Guruh Soekarnoputra

The Indonesian arts and political scenes are deeply saddened by the passing of a national figure and veteran artist, Guruh Soekarnoputra, on Saturday (26/9/2026). The legendary figure breathed his last at the age of 73 at MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi, Jakarta, at 04:16 AM Western Indonesian Time. Prior to his critical condition and pronouncement of death, Guruh had reportedly been battling health issues for approximately one year. The decline in the cultural figure's physical condition was directly revealed by his nephew, Didi Mahardika. However, the family has yet to disclose detailed specifics regarding the medical condition Guruh suffered during his intensive care period. The news of the art maestro's deteriorating health had also reached President Prabowo Subianto directly. The Head of State had even specifically requested that Guruh receive intensive medical treatment promptly. The body of the great artist is currently being held at the funeral home located at Jalan Sriwijaya Raya Number 26, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Regarding the final resting place of the deceased, the Secretary General of the DPP PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, mentioned that TPU Karet Bivak, Central Jakarta, is a potential location.
