Myanmar-Thailand discuss signing of MoU on cooperation in electricity and energy sector soon

It has been learned that discussions were held to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the electricity and energy sector between Myanmar and Thailand soon. Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, who is accompanying the Head of State, President U Min Aung Hlaing, on an official visit to Thailand, and a delegation led by Thai Energy Minister Mr. Akanat Promphan held discussions on the afternoon of August 6. It has been learned that during the discussions, the energy ministers of both countries discussed the early signing of the MoU on cooperation in the electricity and energy sector between Myanmar and Thailand, increasing investment by Thai companies in Myanmar's natural gas projects, and expanding and strengthening the electricity grid system. Furthermore, it has been learned that discussions were held on opportunities for Thai companies to increase investment in Myanmar's promising natural gas projects, and also on matters related to strengthening and expanding Myanmar's electricity production, transmission, and distribution network system. It has also been learned that Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin briefed the Thai Energy Minister and the delegation on investment opportunities within Myanmar's electricity and energy sector. Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin, along with Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Zaw Zaw Soe, attended the meeting, and relevant officials also attended with the Thai Energy Minister.
