Cambodian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Meets Local Authorities, Veterans, and Visits Agricultural Farm

On August 1, 2026, His Excellency Vong Soth, Second Vice President of the National Assembly and Member of Parliament for Tbong Khmum Constituency, led a meeting with village chiefs, commune councils, district councils, veterans, and retirees totaling 492 individuals in Ponhea Krek District, Tbong Khmum Province. He was accompanied by members of the parliamentary delegation for Tbong Khmum Constituency, the Provincial Governor, the Provincial Council Chairman, and relevant leaders. During the occasion, HE Vong Soth conveyed greetings and deep concern from the nation's top leaders to the local authorities, retirees, and veterans, emphasizing the leadership's constant attention to their well-being and livelihoods. He stated that the purpose of this meeting was to strengthen the effectiveness of work at the local level, urging all levels of authorities to enhance their duties and public service delivery to citizens with transparency, efficiency, and speed, while addressing citizens' issues and requests promptly. Furthermore, HE Vong Soth urged local authorities to continue close cooperation with relevant law enforcement agencies in implementing the Law on Combating Technology-Based Fraud. He also stressed the reinforcement of the 'Safe Village-Commune' policy, focusing on preventing and suppressing all types of crimes, especially drug offenses, gambling, and those affecting social security and order. He also appealed to local authorities to continue looking after and supporting retirees and veterans facing difficulties, and commended the efforts of local authorities at all levels in contributing to maintaining security, social order, and promoting local development. HE Vong Soth expressed his confidence that commune and district council members, along with all working groups, will continue to unite and serve as a strong support for the people, successfully implementing strategic plans in preparation for the 6th mandate Commune-Sangkat Council election in June 2027 and the 8th mandate National Assembly election in 2028. On this occasion, HE Vong Soth provided financial support totaling 1 million Riel to the district hall, 1 million Riel to the civil defense force, and 50,000 Riel to each of the 492 local authorities, retirees, and veterans present, as encouragement and thanks for their past sacrifices and service to the nation and people. Subsequently, HE Vong Soth, accompanied by a delegation from the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, visited the greenhouse farm of Mr. Lim Peng, located in Angkorkun Village, Dontrey Commune, Ponhea Krek District, Tbong Khmum Province, to inspect and learn about greenhouse cultivation. Mr. Lim Peng informed that the farm began operations in 2022, after studying and drawing experience from abroad and implementing modern agricultural technology. Currently, the farm has 12 greenhouses cultivating sweet cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, water spinach, eggplant, and chili peppers, supplying markets within the province and supermarkets in Phnom Penh. Due to increasing market demand, the farm plans to expand by adding 8 more greenhouses to increase production capacity and meet market needs. After observing the production activities, HE Vong Soth praised the investment and the application of modern agricultural techniques, which contribute to reducing production risks, improving product quality and safety, and having clear market-linked production plans. He supported the farm's expansion plans and encouraged Mr. Lim Peng to continue sharing his experience and techniques with farmers and youth to promote standardized agriculture and enhance the competitiveness of Cambodian agricultural products. HE Vong Soth emphasized that efficient agriculture begins with clearly identifying the market before production to ensure product sales, increase income, and achieve sustainable profits, thereby improving farmers' livelihoods. He also requested the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries to continue strengthening the dissemination and transfer of modern agricultural techniques to farmers, promoting the use of quality seeds, technical pest and disease management, and enhancing safe, quality, and sustainable production to increase yields, add value to products, and boost farmers' incomes. In response, Mr. Lim Peng expressed his deep gratitude to HE Vong Soth and the delegation for their visit, encouragement, and valuable recommendations to further improve greenhouse cultivation efficiency. He also appealed to citizens, traders, and consumers to continue supporting local agricultural products that are of high quality, safe, and produced according to technical standards.
