Agricultural land disputes must be decided by the relevant management committee

Regarding agricultural land disputes, laws have been enacted, and when disputes arise, the decision of the relevant agricultural land management committee must be followed, said Dr. Ye Tint Tun, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation. This was stated by Deputy Minister Dr. Ye Tint Tun in response to a star-marked question from Daw Aye Chan Mon, National Assembly representative (6) for Mon State, on the 19th day of the second regular session of the third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, held on July 20. The star-marked question asked whether there is a plan to clearly define which organization's decision, between the court and the agricultural land management committee, should be considered final when agricultural land disputes arise, so that the public can understand without doubt the ambiguities in jurisdiction that occur in the application of current legal provisions regarding agricultural land disputes. Dr. Ye Tint Tun said that the Agricultural Land Law has been enacted, and when disputes arise regarding the inheritance of agricultural land cultivation rights, the decision of the relevant court must be followed, while disputes over agricultural land cultivation rights must be decided by the relevant agricultural land management committee at various levels. In Myanmar, the most frequent disputes regarding agricultural land cultivation rights are cases such as disputes between the original cultivator and the current cultivator, requests to redeem mortgaged agricultural land for cultivation, and claims for possession based on legal cultivation rights, said Deputy Minister Dr. Ye Tint Tun.
