Ho Chi Minh City Collects Remains in Park, Aims for Identification and Remembrance

In Ho Chi Minh City, taking advantage of sunny spells following the rainy season, officers and soldiers of Team K74 from the City Military Command are diligently carrying out the mission of collecting and organizing the remains of fallen soldiers at Le Thi Rieng Park in Hoa Hung Ward. This endeavor is a tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in past wars and an acknowledgment of their contributions. To date, 571 sets of remains of fallen soldiers have been collected from the park. Some of these collected remains have been sent to Hanoi for DNA testing to determine their identities. A total of 13,563 bone samples have been dispatched to Hanoi for DNA identification, aiming to clarify the identities of the fallen soldiers and bring peace to their families. Furthermore, solemn ceremonies have been held at Le Thi Rieng Park to offer prayers and express gratitude to the fallen heroes. This serves as an important occasion to commemorate those who gave their lives for the nation's independence and freedom. The local community and relevant agencies also support this activity, with the Military Region 7 Command visiting the site to encourage the personnel on duty. Under Vietnam's single-party system, commemorating and honoring soldiers who sacrificed for national unity and development is considered a crucial policy for fostering national cohesion and patriotism. While Vietnam's economy has experienced rapid growth in recent years, attention to such historical legacies serves as a pillar of social stability and national spirit.
