Cambodia Holds Investment Roundtable in Xiamen, China
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol met with investors and business representatives in Xiamen, China, during an international expo to discuss investment opportunities. He highlighted Cambodia's political and macroeconomic stability, along with competitive incentives.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), led a delegation and representatives from Cambodia's private sector to participate in a roundtable discussion on investment in Cambodia. This event was an accompanying agenda item of the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), currently underway in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, People's Republic of China. The program was organized in close cooperation between the CDC, the Department of Relations of the CIFIT Organizing Committee, and the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce. It was facilitated by the Xiamen Municipal Global Public Service Platform for Enterprises, the Xiamen Overseas Comprehensive Service Liaison Office, and Hong-Da Taxation Services (Xiamen) Limited Inc. The objective was to build a bridge for economic cooperation and direct investment information exchange between Cambodian leaders and the private sector, and potential investors and business people in Xiamen. The roundtable discussion proceeded in a close, direct, and cooperative spirit. Attendees included leaders from the Fujian Provincial People's Government, the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, senior officials from the Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, as well as representatives from approximately 40 business associations, major enterprises, and local media. During the event, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol provided a detailed and comprehensive presentation on the overall investment climate in Cambodia. He highlighted the country's political peace and stability, macroeconomic balance, open policies for foreign investors, and the government's competitive investment incentive package. He also emphasized the direction of strategic infrastructure development and investment opportunities in various priority sectors that respond to regional and global supply chain connectivity. Furthermore, the program featured a session for sharing practical experiences. Representatives from the Association of Cambodian Entrepreneurs shared their real-world experiences and general procedures for foreign investors, including company registration, tax obligations, labor regulations, supply chain cooperation, and forms of partnership with local enterprises. Mr. Wang Shuangtao, Vice President of Wanli Stone Company, also shared his successful investment experience in Cambodia, aiming to boost the confidence and motivation of Chinese entrepreneurs intending to expand their investments into Cambodia. To conclude, the event moved into a phase of discussion and business matching. Senior Cambodian officials and major entrepreneurs from both countries exchanged views and engaged in in-depth discussions on specific investment projects and future cooperation opportunities, fostering a highly fruitful and close collaborative relationship.
