Stung Trang District Governor Highlights Youth and Community Participation in Tree Planting for Beautification and Environmental Protection

In Stung Trang district, Kampong Thom province, Governor Say Kimlom praised the participation of youth, local authorities, monks, community committees, and citizens in a tree-planting initiative aimed at enhancing the area's aesthetics and environmental protection. Speaking at a ceremony on the morning of August 6, 2026, where trees were planted along both sides of the new road leading to Tuol Preah Theat Pagoda (Phlok Pagoda), the governor emphasized the significance of the activity. He stated that these trees contribute to improving air quality, providing cool shade, and beautifying the landscape, while actively absorbing carbon dioxide, thereby aiding in the global response to climate change. Governor Say Kimlom highlighted that this collective effort serves as an excellent model for fostering solidarity and a sense of responsibility towards the environment among the general public, especially students and youth. He further urged all strata of society, students, and Buddhist followers to diligently cooperate in caring for, protecting, and watering these trees to ensure their healthy growth, serving as a legacy for future generations. He also expressed his deepest gratitude to His Excellency Thao Jesta, Head of the Working Group for Stung Trang District, and Mr. Phang Vey, Head of the Working Group for Tua Commune, for constructing the new road and canal connecting the locality to Tuol Preah Theat Pagoda (Phlok Pagoda). This infrastructure facilitates safe and swift travel for Buddhist followers to visit and perform religious ceremonies at the pagoda. Notably, 485 trees of various species, including Thnung, Koki, Kngok, and fruit-bearing trees, were planted along the 1,300-meter new road.
