Vietnamese Top Leader Receives International Peace Prize in Russia

Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, accompanied by his wife and a high-level delegation, attended the awarding ceremony for the 2026 International Lev Tolstoy Peace Prize on the evening of September 9 (local time) at the Kremlin in Moscow, as part of his state visit to the Russian Federation. The awarding of this prize is seen as symbolic of the deepening cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, particularly their efforts towards maintaining peace and stability. During the ceremony, the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in science and technology was also emphasized. General Secretary and President Tô Lâm also highlighted the significance of making strategic technologies a new pillar of the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Vietnam, under its one-party system, continues to pursue economic growth while emphasizing its constructive role in the international community. Relations with Russia, in particular, are positioned as a strategic partnership, building on historical friendship and considering geopolitical balance. This award serves not only to demonstrate Vietnam's commitment to international peace but also to reaffirm the strengthening of ties with Russia.
