Myanmar / Japan: Talks with Member of House of Representatives

Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi on Monday received a delegation led by Member of the House of Representatives of Japan Mr. TAKEI Shunsuke at the Pyithu Hluttaw building in Nay Pyi Taw. During the meeting, the Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw stated that the parliament is currently establishing parliamentary friendship groups to enhance inter-parliamentary relations with other countries. He expressed a desire to cooperate in parliamentary interactions, committee-to-committee relations, as well as youth, women, and technology sectors between the two nations. He added his belief that, given the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, efforts to rebuild and enhance bilateral ties would face no major difficulties. In response, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan Mr. TAKEI Shunsuke affirmed that he would work to foster cooperation between the parliaments of both countries. He stated that efforts would be made to restart tourism to allow people to appreciate Myanmar’s beautiful nature and culture, as people-to-people friendship is key to boosting bilateral relations. He explained that the purpose of his current visit is to restart bilateral tourism, enhance cooperation in human resource development and the economy, and strengthen bilateral ties and people-to-people contact.
