Vietnam's Top Leadership Directs Push for Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation

At the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam chaired a meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation. During the meeting, the committee reviewed its performance since its establishment and exchanged views on key future tasks. General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized the critical role of scientific and technological advancement, innovation promotion, and digital transformation (DX) in strengthening the nation's competitiveness amidst Vietnam's rapid economic growth. He particularly highlighted the importance of science and technology in keeping pace with global technological innovation and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Under its one-party system, Vietnam has prioritized economic development, focusing on attracting foreign investment and promoting manufacturing industries. In recent years, the country has positioned the transition to a digital economy as a cornerstone of its national strategy, investing in infrastructure development and human resource training. This meeting signifies the strong commitment of the top leadership to advancing these national strategies. Furthermore, Vietnam maintains a complex relationship with China while enhancing its influence within the ASEAN region. Achieving self-reliance and innovation in science and technology is also a crucial factor in maintaining geopolitical balance. The directives from this meeting are expected to contribute not only to the domestic economic sophistication but also to raising Vietnam's standing in the international community.
